Sat-Tag was formed in January 2007 to provide a solution
for the Aviation Industry's need for simple yet effective asset tracking.
We have two major product lines which cover airborne and ground based assets.
Airborne assets such as Unit Load Devices require genuine global coverage
and Ground Based assets are tracked within the confines of national boundaries.
For a number of years, the Industry believed that RFID would be the answer
to global tracking. It is now accepted that this technology is limited to
clearly defined areas such as baggage halls. In open space the only reliable
solution is to physically attach a tracking tag to the asset.
Sat-Tag's devices use the latest generation GPS for positioning. To communicate
this position, the airborne tag uses satellites to convey its messages, the
ground based tags use GPRS.
Critical to the safety and success of the airborne tag is its ability to shut
down when on board an aircraft. Sat-Tag has developed logic specific to flight
operations which controls the behaviour of the tag and ensures its key components
are entirely dormant when on board the aircraft.
Investment in new technology apart from solving the immediate problem of tracking
assets must bring a profitable rate of return. Considerable research over
the last year has enabled us to develop tracking plans that will deliver savings
and improve profits. Use our unique Asset Management Calculator to view the
financial performance of introducing Sat-Tag to an existing fleet of ULDs.
Sat-Tag is based in the UK and both its airborne and ground based devices
are manufactured in the UK. First delivery of our airborne tag is scheduled
for 2010, ground based tags are available in 2009.
